Residence by Investment
What is Residence by Investment?
Residence by Investment (RBI) is a way for some high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) to obtain residence in a country that has Residence by Investment program. Each such program has its own set of requirements, but one of the common requirements is for a person to make a certain investment in such country.
Reasons for Obtaining Residence by Investment:
There are many different reasons why some high-net-worth individuals and their families seek to obtain second or multiple residence(s) through Residence by Investment program(s). These are some of the most common reasons:
- Increasing business and investment opportunities
- Increasing international mobility
- Improving lifestyle and quality of life overall
- Creating a “Plan B”, or a “Backup Plan”, for living in another country, or in various other countries, thus mitigating political, economic, social, and natural disaster risks.
