Citizenship by Investment

What is Citizenship by Investment?

Citizenship by Investment (CBI) is a way for some high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) to obtain citizenship of a country that has Citizenship by Investment program. Each such program has its own set of requirements, but one of the common requirements is for a person to make a certain investment in such country.

Reasons for Obtaining Citizenship by Investment:

There are many different reasons why some high-net-worth individuals and their families seek to obtain second or multiple citizenship(s) through Citizenship by Investment program(s). These are some of the most common reasons:

  • Increasing business and investment opportunities
  • Increasing international mobility
  • Improving lifestyle and quality of life overall
  • Creating a “Plan B”, or a “Backup Plan”, for living in another country, or in various other countries, thus mitigating political, economic, social, and natural disaster risks.
